Alumni Spotlight: Bob Kent - Managing Director, Mont Marte
Nothing should get in the way of making art. Based on that belief, Mont Marte
was born in 2003. From selling canvases in Australia, the Kent family progressively built a global leader in the art supplies sector. With
this expansion, the future of the company was high on the agenda. After all, nothing should get in the way of succession to the next
generation.
As Mont Marte embarked on the next stage of growth and transformation, the topic of succession emerged as a priority. This highlighted the need for external advice and team upskilling. For these reasons, the decision was made in 2017 to become part of Queensland Leaders.
The Queensland Leaders format enabled the Mont Marte founder to connect directly with experts and establish meaningful networks. With clear objectives in mind, the team maximised the value of the program.
Beyond the redesign of strategy and structure to adapt to changing markets and pursue geographic expansion, the team engaged with professionals to prepare the company for transition within the Kent family.
Mont Marte forged ahead with product extension and global expansion – with over 2,000 products available to creators around the world. This
has been supported by enhancements to digital infrastructure, backed by best-of-breed systems.
As a result, Mont Marte has become a more robust, innovative and future-ready company. Importantly, this collaboration with industry
specialists through Queensland Leaders enabled a smooth leadership handover.
